The Kashmir Dossier
presents a ground-level, experience-backed perspective on the Kashmir conflict by Col Rajeev Raina (Retd.), who served extensively across operational zones in Jammu & Kashmir.

The book examines how narratives of terrorism, freedom struggle, and nationalism were shaped over decades through propaganda, cross-border strategy, radicalization, and misinformation. Drawing from real incidents, field exposure, and documented history, the author explains how fundamentalism targeted culture, women’s autonomy, art, and social harmony in the Valley.

It traces Pakistan’s involvement since 1947, the use of proxy terror groups, and how misinformation influenced generations of Kashmiri youth. The narrative also reflects on the gradual shift in perception among locals in recent years and the broader implications for peace, stability, and national security.

A must-read for anyone seeking to understand Kashmir beyond headlines—through the lens of a soldier who witnessed history from the frontlines.

About the Author – Col Rajeev Raina (Retd.)

Col Rajeev Raina is a retired officer of the Indian Army with extensive operational experience in Jammu & Kashmir. Over the course of his military career, he served in multiple sensitive zones across the Valley during some of the most turbulent phases of insurgency and counter-terror operations.

Having witnessed the Kashmir situation from the ground level for years, he brings a rare blend of field experience, strategic understanding, and human insight into the region’s complex realities. His service exposed him not only to military operations but also to the social, cultural, and psychological dimensions of conflict affecting civilians, soldiers, and communities alike.

After retirement, Col Raina turned to writing to document and analyze the realities he observed firsthand. Through his work, he aims to present an experience-driven perspective on how narratives of terrorism, freedom struggle, and nationalism evolved in Kashmir over decades.

The Kashmir Dossier reflects his commitment to presenting facts, experiences, and historical context to help readers understand Kashmir beyond media headlines and political rhetoric.
